Many people may think that anabolic steroids can be addictive as it is a drug. As such, it will cause confusion among all the people who lack knowledge about it. Anabolic steroids don’t cause addiction as it is not the same as other drugs. Therefore, many bodybuilders and athletes abuse anabolic steroids to improve their appearance and strengths. This results in making them become physically and psychologically addicted.

Physical Addiction

The physical addiction of using steroids results in the body adapting to the steroid support which experiences muscle growth and hormonal increase. As such, humans continue to consume it as it is very effective. However, it is very dangerous when the steroid usage is discontinued bringing about withdrawal symptoms like depression, headaches, muscle and joint pain,decreased strength and lastly, fatigue.

Psychological Addiction

Many steroid users who become psychologically addicted suffer from muscle dysmorphia. Muscle dysmorphia is a psychological behavior condition which causes the victim to have a false view. For instance, bodybuilders will believe that without steroids they will look weak and tiny when they are actually muscular. For women, they will think that they are fat and unfit when they are in fact lean and toned.
